I completed a NA rebuild with 8.5:1 pistons about 1200 miles ago. Ive just pulled my engine for my TT conversion underway, and noticed the HG was leaking oil. So long story in short, I bought a set of OEM gasketsm, but was sent some cheap Ebay gaskets instead. So I now have a pair or Cometic multi layer steel gaskets Im debating on whether to use them or some OEM ones. I had the heads and block milled when the machine work was done. One concern of mine was about 300-400 miles into the break-in, my electric fan quit running without me realizing it, while I was sitting in a parking lot with my engine running, I had sat there for like 3 or 4 minutes so Id say it had overheated for less than a minute I would hope to assume. It was only during an idle though, so I was wondering if this could have a slight affect on warpage that might keep my Cometic's from sealing properly? Im also looking for user opinions, positive, and negative. Id like to hear any negative remarks about them that might be able ot help my decision out, because I would REALLY hate to do this all again. Ive got my engine down to where I need to figure out what I need to put on there, so I appreciate any advice.
